The Parisian bakery “Du Pain et des Idées” is located on a charming little street tucked away in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. The owner, Christophe Vasseur, has a love for bread and tradition. The bakery style reminds me of childhood memories and the smell of fresh delicious bread and pastries.

Calling all chefs and food aficionados alike! We love our neighborhood. The rue Montorgueil is a favourite amongst the city’s culinary masters, boasting some of the most traditional food stores for buying weird and wonderful ingredients. Three bakeries on the street + same for cheese shops + fish market + Butchers. Basically is a real delight. Amongst the most respected is G. Detou, a paradise for those who love to get creative in the kitchen. Search the packed shelves for chocolates from all over the country, jars of tea, mustard, honeys, coffee and even cake decorations.
La Patisserie des Rêves.
I can’t talk about French foods without thinking sweetness! Pâtisserie des Rêves– patisseries of dreams is one of our all time hidden secret. Everything is so beautifully presented that it nearly looks like a jewel shop, and the chef Philippe Conticini makes these amazing, very classic French patisseries. All the cakes are simply unforgettable, but my favourites is the “eclair au chocolat” but not only – it’s so tasty!
Marché d'Aligre
The Marché d’Aligre is located in the 12th arr. of Paris. We love going there on a sunday morning to purchase groceries for the week and have a glass of wine at one of the numerous café with friends. It is probably the most authentic & vibrant market place in central Paris. It is certainly one of the oldest market place in Paris and quite colorful. Vendors are often screaming away for their special offers of the day to attract clients. It is a “working class” traditional market and rocks!
Le Baron Rouge.
Actually talking about the marché d’Aligne, I cannot help mentioning “Le Baron Rouge” which is the institution for a get together with friends once the food shopping for the week is done!
It offers a large selection of French wine, which you can purchase directly from the barrel if you bring your empty bottle of wine with you! If you are a big fan of wine bars, this is a real treat, with great atmosphere. They offer oysters in the season which you can enjoy in the streets with new friends while you chat and change the course of the world over and over again.
